For a covered Missouri homeschool pupil under age 16, keep a plan/diary of subjects and activities, a portfolio of academic work, and evaluations of progress (or equivalent credible evidence). Track 1,000 instructional hours, including 600 core academic hours and 400 of those core hours at the regular homeschool location. Missouri's school year runs July 1–June 30.
Compulsory attendance generally begins at age 7. Missouri does not impose a statewide homeschool curriculum. The federal government does not set separate homeschool curriculum/hour rules.
Legal + withdrawal checklist
Missouri: RSMo §§ 167.012, 167.031 and 167.042. If withdrawing from public school, give written notice of intent to pursue another educational option and request removal from the district rolls; the district must promptly remove the child.
Records: Keep the daily/plan log, portfolio samples, and progress evaluations. School Cabinet is designed to store those categories.
Testing: Missouri's homeschool statute requires records of evaluations of academic progress; it does not impose a specific statewide homeschool test for first grade.
Federal: U.S. Department of Education does not regulate homeschool curriculum. IDEA Child Find still applies if a child may need special-education evaluation; the responsible public agency is generally the local education agency where the child resides.
